Non-specific donations: Fast, flexible, reliable
Providing help around the world where it is needed the most.
These Core Resources for Results (RR) have no direct donation purpose and can therefore be used flexibly. This enables UNICEF to help where there is a particular need for support. Thanks to these non-specific funds, experts with specialist knowledge can be deployed in all of UNICEF’s program areas, proven solutions can be expanded worldwide, and innovations can be developed for children. And it goes without saying that lives can be saved.
For every child: RR funds are hugely important to UNICEF, particularly in a period beset by the pandemic, conflict and climate change. These donations enable UNICEF to reach children in regions that escape everyone else’s attention. Without help, they risk being forgotten. As a result, UNICEF can react flexibly and immediately to different challenges as they arise. Thanks to non-specific donations, UNICEF can help before, during and after a disaster, regardless of what the media is currently reporting on.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for example, UNICEF’s RR contributions have improved primary education for 167,000 school-age children in the space of a year. Their access to school was supported in part by strengthening and training local parent–teacher organizations. RR funds were also used in Afghanistan. UNICEF was able to carry out vaccination campaigns to strengthen the health of the most disadvantaged children, vaccinating 7.4 million children against polio.
