The much awarded singer and songwriter Bastian Baker will now act as an ambassador for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein. In this new role, he will pay tribute to committed children at this afternoon’s Star Weeks Award Ceremony in the Schauspielhaus Zürich.
Bastian Baker has embarked on a new adventure: he will be the first ambassador for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein from French-speaking Switzerland. “I’m proud and happy that we’ve been able to gain such a well-known figure as Bastian Baker as a new ambassador,” says Bettina Junker, Executive Director of UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein. “Bastian Baker is known not only as a passionate musician, but also for his strong social engagement. He has previously supported UNICEF and humanitarian projects, and I’m convinced that he’ll be able to raise the necessary awareness for children in need,” says Bettina Junker.
For Bastian Baker, who will give a eulogy for the first time as a new UNICEF ambassador at the Star Weeks Award Ceremony in the Schauspielhaus Zürich this afternoon, this is the culmination of a long-held desire. “As a musician, I’ve always believed that we have a voice that should be heard. Singing on a stage isn’t the only goal. I also want to use my voice and fame to bring about change and to support those who need our help most. Being appointed as an ambassador for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is therefore an important opportunity for me to improve the lives of children, to advocate for their rights and to help shape a world in which each and every child has the chance to achieve their full potential.”
Bastian Baker, who has sold more than a million albums and performed on many prestigious stages, has long since proved that he can enchant the public with his music. His music knows no bounds, and the singer and songwriter also fills international concert halls: his musical chronicle already includes more than 2,000 concerts in 50 countries. During his impressive musical career Bastian Baker has also received numerous awards, including seven Swiss Music Awards, three Prix Walo and the MTV Europe Music Award.
As the first well-known public figure from French-speaking Switzerland, Bastian Baker joins Stefanie Heinzmann, Tina Weirather, Anatole Taubman and Kurt Aeschbacher as an ambassador for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
